It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Here at Usherette Trays we have started the great big Christmas countdown, well as far as we’re concerned once those advent calendars are out it’s all go for the big day!
We’ve got the tree up, festive music on the airwaves and enough mince pies to last a year (but we’ll be surprised if they last the month!). We’re all feeling the Christmas spirit and are really starting to get into the festivities with a dash of good cheer, a pinch of good will and a glug of mulled wine.
Conversation around watercoolers everywhere has turned to who is buying what for who, what to buy Great Aunt Mabel* (she really does have everything!), Secret Santa and what events we’re really looking forward to that just ooze all the goodness of Christmas. So here’s a top 5 of our Christmas bucket list, as put together exclusively and entirely without any criteria, by us:
1. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, London
Now in it’s tenth year we’re ashamed to say we haven’t had the chance to visit, YET! So this one is top of our list of must go to Christmas events, not just because it’s the epitome of the magic of Christmas in London, but also for the experience of Bar Ice.
2. Bruges Christmas Market
Simply because we’ve been reliably informed that the city is absolutely stunning and the market feels like entering another world – a world of Christmas! And being just a hop, skip and a jump away, it would be a little extra special ‘holiday treat’.
3. Iceland
Can you imagine being anywhere more festive at Christmas? The snow, the Northern Lights, Reindeer – Santa’s workshop!! It’s the stuff of children’s dreams. But it made it onto our list just because of the beautiful festival of lights. Kind of fitting for a country which is plunged into darkness at this time of year.
4. Christmas on the Beach, Australia
It’s something we’ve always wanted to try and feels like an ‘alternative Christmas’ in the sunshine. But just what do Aussies do on Christmas day? Do they really have a BBQ on the beach? Where do they get their snow from? There’s only one way to find out and that’s to go and find out!
5. Birmingham
Yes, Birmingham! Apparently it has the largest German Christmas Market outside of Germany, so saving us the airfare to Germany this year – but perhaps we’ll add it to our list to visit the real next year.
